Pump is a toning and conditioning class that provides a full-body workout via a mixture of aerobic exercise with weight training. All movement is choreographed to a music track which is especially designed for the classes. It employs a step platform, a bar and a set of weights, and is for just about everybody who wants to add strength training into their aerobic workout. The overall objective of a Pump class is to improve strength and endurance in the major muscle groups and, in doing so, burn calories.
It challenges all major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls, encompassing a warm up, legs, chest, back, triceps, biceps, shoulders and abdominals, stretch and cool down. The simplicity of the class makes it a great starting point to develop strength and confidence. It is an easy, fun and challenging way to get into shape. The benefits include burning up to 600 calories per class, improved strength, improved general fitness, shaping and toning and improved bone density.
All you need to bring to a class is comfortable workout clothes that do not impede your range of motion (moisture wicking and sleeveless are highly recommended), comfortable footwear (trainers/runners/sneakers), water to hydrate and a towel to dry off during the short breaks between exercises.
